What does the EHIC card entitle me to?
The EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) provides you with medical treatment in most countries within the European Union (EU) and also can be used within Switzerland free of charge.
I do not have my EHIC card on my persons am I still covered?
In the event an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) cannot or is not be presented to a medical practice you will be required to pay. We strongly recommend all clients travel with the EHIC card on their persons with accurate and up to date information. If you have lost your EHIC card or yours is damaged you can apply for a new one by clicking here.
Where am I covered by using an EHIC card?
An EHIC will give you to access state provided healthcare in all European Economic Area (EEA) countries, including Switzerland and the Canary Islands.
How long will my EHIC card last for?
An EHIC card has an expiry date of up to 5 years.
When can I renew my EHIC card?
You can re-new an EHIC card 6 months before the expiry date and we strongly urge all clients to do so to avoid delays during peak periods.
Is my family or relatives covered on my EHIC card?
Each and every person individually requires their own EHIC card and therefore will not be covered on your EHIC card.
You can apply for another family member, relative or friend as long as you have their permission by using the form provided on our website.
Is my child covered on my EHIC card?
Each and every person individually requires their own EHIC card. You can apply for a child as long as you are there parent or carer or have the permission from the parent of carer to do so. Children under the age of 18 require their own EHIC card.
I have changed my name how do I update my application with you?
If you have changed your name in any way shape or form we strongly recommend you update your details with us and request a new EHIC card as your card may be invalid if you do not do so. You may do so by submitting a new application with your newly updated name.
What is the eligibility criteria in order to apply online for an EHIC card?
1. You must be a citizen of the UK, or have EEA, EU or Swiss nationality
2. All the people you apply for must also be residing in the UK.
3. When applying for other people, the consent of all the people regarding the disclosure of their personal details must be taken.
4. You must not be depending on a working citizen of the UK and living in any other EU member state apart from the United Kingdom.
